Police resort to lathi charge after a man grabs a Police officer’s collar

Khandwa (Madhya Pradesh) – Hundreds of Muslims surrounded a Police station here to protest against an alleged objectionable comment about a Muslim cleric posted on social media. When the Police attempted to pacify the crowd, one Muslim grabbed the collar of the Police station in-charge, leading to an argument. Following this, the Police resorted to a lathi charge to disperse the Muslim mob.
In this case, a young woman alleged that she was assaulted by some Muslims. She arrived at the Police station with a swollen face. According to her complaint, some youths who were part of the mob assaulted her. She sustained a head injury and swelling on her face was clearly visible. The Police have registered a case and taken some persons into custody.
