Mumbai, 5 March – Death of innocent workers in the devastating blast in the explosives factory at Katol in Nagpur district has been heart-wrenching. To avoid recurrence of such mishaps in future, it is necessary to bring automation in the process, stated Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis in the Legislative Council. He also declared that a memorandum would be presented to the Central Government for incorporating drastic amendments to the old regulations of 2008 in this regard.
Human interference to be reduced to save workers’ lives
CM Fadanvis further stated that working with excessively explosive material can result in huge loss of life due to a human error. It is, therefore, the need of the hour to use robotic or fully automated process to prevent such mishaps. Special emphasis will be made in the proposal to be submitted to the Central Government about the revision of the regulations, strict rules for safety of the workers and on discontinuation of human interference in the factories.
