Muslim pilgrims from Maharashtra stranded in Saudi Arabia due to war

State Minorities Commission initiates efforts to repatriate pilgrims

Nagpur – Owing to the ongoing war between the United States and Israel, an environment of tension has reportedly prevailed in Saudi Arabia, severely affecting Muslim pilgrims from Maharashtra. An estimated 50,000 to 1 lakh pilgrims from the State, who had travelled to Saudi Arabia during Ramzan to perform religious rites, are said to be stranded there due to the war.

The State Minorities Commission has launched efforts to ensure the safe return of these devotees. The Commission is also set to hold discussions with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis regarding the matter. An assurance has reportedly been given that all possible assistance will be extended to bring the pilgrims back to their homeland safely.

Editorial Perspective

Just as the State Minorities Commission has taken the initiative in this case, similar efforts should also be undertaken for majority Hindus stranded in war-affected regions !
