Home (State) Minister promises to take action

Mumbai – On JioHotstar OTT platform, a programme ‘Engaged Roka Ya Dhoka- Season 2’ is telecast. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister and State (Home) Minister against the obscenity and desecration of women shown in this reality show (made without any written script), demanding immediate ban on this show and filing of cases against the concerned. Atrocities against women are increasing day by day and the vulgar portrayal of women through such programmes is quite disgraceful. Such programmes will, in fact, encourage atrocities against women. If you cannot respect women, at least don’t insult them, warned Ms Priyanka Lone, of HJS- Ranaragini Division. State (Home) Minister Yogesh Kadam took a serious note of the demand made by HJS and assured of instructing Director General of Police to take action, besides informing the Department of Cultural Affairs for necessary measures.
HJS also appealed to the State Government to form a cultural watch committee to preserve the culture and women’ honour by not tolerating such perverted programmes. HJS has demanded action within 24 hours.
It has been mentioned in the memorandum –
1. In this reality show, there are items like ‘Lap dance (sitting in lap and dancing); ‘Mud Task (put mud on women) and Ice cube task (to play with ice cubes) which are very uncouth and lack standard and women are used like an object.
2. To remove women’s clothes using mouth, openly giving bath to women and put mud on them with hands etc. are illegal acts. Such things are creating an adverse effect on the young generation. It is necessary to stop this promiscuity carried on in the name of freedom of expression as it is the need of the hour.
