Chikhali (Dist. Buldhana) – Gorakshak Omraje Madanraje Gaikwad, who has been active in preventing cow slaughter for the past 3 years, was fatally attacked by some miscreants in Chikhali. Devout Hindu organizations have condemned the attack.
At 5:45 p.m. on February 21st, Omraje Gaikwad was on his way home when Asman Khan, Aqeel Khan, Farzan Khan and Anis Khan stopped him. They asked, “Have you become a gorakshak ? You are doing Hindu-Hindu ?” and beat him up inhumanly. They also threatened to kill him. A few months ago, Omraje had helped seize two beef containers. Out of anger, the accused attacked him. (Why don’t the Police provide protection to gorakshaks ? Why shouldn’t the Police be held responsible for the attack and action be taken against them ? – Editor). Omraje was saved as he took shelter in a nearby shop. A complaint has been filed with the Police in this matter and a case has been registered against the accused.

An attack on Hindu identity : Devout Hindus
Regarding the incident, Devout Hindus expressed their opinion that ‘this is not just an attack on an individual but an attack on Hindu identity’. The demand has been made through a statement that gorakshaks be given Police protection and that the attackers be arrested immediately and strict action under MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) be taken against them. (Hindus, do not stop at just making demands but follow up with the Police until action is taken against the arrogant religious fanatics – Editor). Devout Hindus also warned of a befitting response to the attack.
Omraje Gaikwad is currently undergoing treatment, and the Police are taking precautions to ensure that no untoward incident takes place in the city.
