  • Gujarat Home Minister Issues Strong Warning on ‘Love Jihad’

  • Marriage Registration to Undergo Thorough Scrutiny

  • Parental Consent to Be Made Mandatory

Karnavati (Gujarat) — Those who conceal their identity to trap girls will be taught such a lesson that they will not dare to repeat such acts, Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi warned in the State Assembly. He said that if someone named “Salim” misrepresents himself as “Suresh” to deceive girls, he will not be forgiven. The government is not against love, but it will not tolerate fraud and fake identities in the name of relationships. Sanghavi stated that the government has decided to make marriage registration rules more stringent for couples who elope and marry.

Under the new rules, at the time of marriage registration, thorough verification of both parties’ identity, age, and consent will be carried out. The government will also give importance to informing parents and considering their position in the process. Marriages will not be permitted without parental consent.

Nikah Certificates Issued in Districts Without Muslims or Mosques !

Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi said that in Panchmahal district, where there were reportedly no Muslims or mosques, hundreds of nikah (marriage) certificates were issued. Similar instances were said to have occurred in Banaskantha, Navsari, and Mehsana districts.

He clarified that the government is not opposed to love marriages; however, the proposed reforms are aimed at protecting the dignity of girls and safeguarding Sanatan Dharma.
