Arrest of religious fanatic known as ‘Bengali Baba’

Mumbai – In a joint operation conducted by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Central Railway and Western Railway, a religious fanatic known as “Bengali Baba,” identified as Mohammad Nazir Andadi, was arrested for illegally pasting advertisements and promotional material on railway coaches and railway premises. 1. The action was carried out during a raid at Meera Ali Dargah in the Reay Road–Darukhana area. During the operation, 15,000 posters were seized from the accused.

2. The accused admitted to using railway premises and coaches for promotional purposes without prior permission from railway authorities.

3. Efforts are underway to trace other suspects. A detailed investigation into the financial transactions of individuals associated with this network is also underway.

4. Central Railway clarified that unauthorised advertising, defacement of railway property, or misuse of railway assets are punishable offences under the Railways Act. Strict action will be taken against individuals and groups involved in such illegal activities.

5. With the objective of keeping railway premises clean, safe, and passenger-friendly, Central Railway has appealed to citizens to refrain from pasting or displaying unauthorised pamphlets or posters in railway coaches and on railway premises.
