The inappropriate use of Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesha in commercial advertisements in ‘Dainik Bhaskar’ and ‘Haribhoomi’!

Raipur (Chhattisgarh) – On the occasion of the holy festival of Mahashivratri, Deity Shiva and Deity Ganesh were used inappropriately in commercial advertisements in leading newspapers of Chhattisgarh ‘Dainik Bhaskar’ and ‘Haribhoomi’. The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) had initiated a strong protest against the company ‘Shri Ganesh Global Gulal Private Limited’, which published the advertisement. The protest has been successful. As Mr Sunil Ghanwat, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh State organizer of the HJS, demanded Police action against the advertisement, the concerned company has issued an unconditional written apology.

What was wrong with the advertisement ?

The advertisement showed Deity Ganesh holding packets of ‘Gulal’ and ‘Thandai’. The Deities were presented as models. The advertisement also depicted foreign fictional characters like ‘Captain America’ and other products around Deity Shiva and the Shivalinga.

The company admits its mistake

Apology letter

After the protest, the director of the company, Umang Goyal, admitted that it was a big mistake and an inadvertent error to show his own product in the hands of Deity Ganesh. The company clarified in its letter that this unfortunate incident happened inadvertently, and they sincerely apologize to the entire Sanatani Hindu community. It has also assured that such a mistake will never happen again in the future.
