Uttar Pradesh Government to probe foreign funding received by madarasas

Funds used for madarasa building construction will also be investigated !

Lakhimpuri (Uttar Pradesh) – The Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to conduct a detailed investigation into the financial transactions of all madarasas in the state. The government has directed madarasas to provide information about the foreign funding they receive. It will also examine how much money was spent on the construction of madarasa buildings and what the actual source of those funds was. A Special Investigation Team of the Anti-Terrorism Squad will carry out the probe. The state government has instructed all District Magistrates to extend full cooperation to the investigation team. It is being estimated that around 4,000 madarasas in the state may have received foreign funding. In some cases, it has come to light that madarasas are being run from grand buildings despite there being no clear source of income.

‘Four inspections have already been conducted !’ – Maulana Razvi

Maulana Razvi

Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi, National President of the All India Muslim Jamaat, said that the Uttar Pradesh Government is repeatedly ordering inspections of madarasas. He stated that it is not clear what exactly the government wants to find or what new it expects to discover; however, there is no objection to complying with government orders. Inspections have already been conducted four times, and madarasas are ready even for a fifth inspection. (Maulana Razvi’s pretence of innocence is misleading. Given the enormous scale of criminal activities taking place in madarasas, the truth is that madarasas should now be banned altogether. – Editor)

Editorial Perspective

In fact, such an investigation should be conducted into madarasas across the country, and going a step further, the madarasa education system should be shut down in India !
