Arrested YouTuber Shinjita Mustafa

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) – Kerala Police have recently arrested YouTuber Shinjita Mustafa for circulating a false video claiming that a man sexually harassed her on a bus, purely for self-promotion (to increase viewership). She was arrested from her relatives’ house in Vadakara, Kozhikode, on charges of abetting the suicide of a Hindu youth.

Mustafa had accused a Hindu youth named Deepak of molesting her while she was traveling on a private bus. The video was circulated on social media. After the video went viral, Deepak committed suicide due to severe mental trauma.

Despite Deepak being completely innocent, Shinjita Mustafa herself approached him and recorded the video. There was widespread demand on social media for her arrest, stating that in her pursuit of fame, she made a video that led to the death of an individual. After a complaint was filed by Deepak’s parents, the police registered a case under non-bailable sections. When the accused Shinjita Mustafa was produced before the court, she was remanded to four days of judicial custody.
