Urination by Muslim boys on the walls of the Shiva temple

Sonbhadra (Uttar Pradesh) — Tension prevailed in Bahera village of Sonbhadra district after five minor boys allegedly urinated on the walls of a Lord Shiva temple and engaged in objectionable acts near the idol, police said.

According to locals, when the priest’s son attempted to stop them, the boys fled and allegedly issued threats to kill and make bodies “disappear.” News of the incident quickly spread, leading to heightened tension in the area.

Activists from Hindu organisations, including Bajrang Dal, staged a protest outside the Karma police station, demanding strict action. Taking note of the seriousness of the allegations, police registered a case against all five minors and took three of them into custody. Additional police forces have been deployed in the village to maintain law and order.

Local Allegations and Police Inquiry

1.Local residents have alleged that the incident was not mere mischief by children but a deliberate attempt to hurt religious sentiments. They claimed the minors were instigated by individuals identified as Jalaluddin, Abrar Hussain, Bablu, and Bodar. Police said these allegations are being examined as part of the investigation.

2.Residents also alleged that members of the Muslim community have encroached upon land near the pond adjacent to the temple. Police stated that the claim would be verified separately in accordance with law.

3.Authorities have urged calm and assured that the investigation will proceed impartially.
