New Delhi – The Municipal Corporation took action using bulldozers in the Muslim -majority area near Faiz-e-Ilahi mosque near Turkman Gate in Old Delhi on the midnight of January 6th. On the orders of the Delhi High Court, illegal constructions in this area were demolished by bulldozing. This entire area is near the famous Ramlila Maidan. During this action, fanatic Muslims pelted stones at the municipal employees and Delhi Police personnel. More than 5 Police personnel were injured in this. To bring the situation under control, the Police first resorted to lathicharge and then fired tear gas shells.
The Police have arrested Adil Kasif, Mohammad Kaif, Mohammad Arib, Ujaif, Azim and Irfan in connection with the stone-pelting case. They are also searching for those who spread rumours on social media that action is being taken against the mosque. It has been reported that two people, Adnan and Sameer, have circulated the video and audio recording. Legal action is being taken against all of them. The situation is currently under control. The Police also conducted a flag procession on the afternoon of January 7th.
1. The Municipal Corporation removed the encroachment by deploying 30 bulldozers at midnight. After the demolition work with the help of 200 trucks, the work of removing the debris is going on at a war footing. The Police have temporarily blocked all the roads approaching the area.
2. On January 6th, the Delhi High Court had issued a notice to remove encroachments on the land adjacent to the mosque and graveyard here. The petitioner says that this is a waqf property.
3. The municipality’s statement on this matter is that no documents proving ownership or legal control over the additional land have been submitted. This point was challenged in the Court. After that, a notice was issued. The Muslim party clarified in the Court that we have no objection to the removal of the encroachment. After that, this action was taken.

Reacting to this, Preet Sarohee wrote on ‘X’, “Hanumanji, please protect me. If they can attack the police, why would they spare me ? I myself am saying this — this mob will kill me.” |
