(‘NATO’ is the ‘North Atlantic Treaty Organization’, a military organization involving 29 countries around the world)

Copenhagen – US President Donald Trump has warned of invading and taking control of Greenland. Responding to it, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has taken a firm stand. She has made it clear that if the US tries to take control of Greenland, it will be the end of ‘NATO’. She said that the US should think carefully before taking any such step. Both the US and Denmark are members of ‘NATO’.
1. Mette Frederiksen further said that if a NATO member country were to take military action against another member country, the entire system would collapse.
2. Greenland Prime Minister Jens Fredrik Nielsen has also strongly criticized Donald Trump’s statement. He said that any attempt to gain control over Greenland would have disastrous consequences. Nielsen said that Greenland cannot be compared to Venezuela.
3. Greenland is an island country with an estimated population of 55,000. Denmark is responsible for its defense and foreign policy.
