American institution claims

Washington DC (USA) – India and Pakistan could once again go to war in 2026, according to a claim made by the US-based think tank Council on Foreign Relations. According to its report titled “Conflicts to Watch in 2026”, there is a moderate likelihood of conflict between the two countries due to an increase in terrorist activities in Kashmir.

India’s Defence Acquisition Council has recently approved defence contracts worth ₹79,000 crore, which include drones, air-to-air missiles, and precision-guided bombs.
On the other hand, Pakistan has also initiated discussions to procure new drones and air defence systems from Turkiye and China, in order to address shortcomings experienced during “Operation Sindoor.”
Possibility of Afghanistan–Pakistan conflict as well
The report also claims that there is a moderate possibility of armed conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan in 2026. However, it clarifies that such a conflict would have only a limited impact on US interests.
