Now you are using this very incident as a pretext to foil the country’s general elections,” Sharif Omar Hadi, the brother of anti-India and Sheikh Hasina-critic Bangladeshi leader Osman Hadi, alleged while addressing a public gathering. Omar made this accusation against the Muhammad Yunus government at the Shahidi Shopoth programme organised by the Inquilab Moncho at Shahbag on 23 December. Omar further stated that those responsible for the murder should be prosecuted at the earliest so that the elections are not affected. He said that so far, the government has not informed them of any concrete progress in the investigation into Osman Hadi’s murder. “If Osman Hadi does not get justice, then one day you too will be forced to flee Bangladesh,” Omar warned Muhammad Yunus.
