Four arrested for spying for Pakistan in Arunachal Pradesh in the last 10 days

Pakistani and Chinese spy networks reportedly active

Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh) – The State Police have arrested 4 suspects in connection with a spy network linked to Pakistan in the last 10 days. The arrested accused were sending information about the movements of soldiers and other sensitive information to Pakistani agents. Preliminary investigations have also revealed that the network has links with China. On the other hand, locals have informed about the presence of Chinese troops near the Line of Actual Control and possible infiltration. State Home Minister Mama Natung has said that strict action will be taken against those involved in spying activities and no compromise will be made on national security.

1. Nazir Ahmad Malik and Sabir Ahmad Mir from Kupwara District of Jammu and Kashmir were arrested in Itanagar on December 11th. Both were working as blanket sellers and were in touch with Pakistani handlers through Telegram channels. It was revealed that they had received instructions to facilitate illegal infiltration and smuggle weapons.

2. On December 13th, 2 more youths were arrested from Kashmir. There are indications that this network has spread to Assam. Retired Air Force officer Kulendra Sharma, who was arrested from Tezpur a few days ago in a spy case, is also being linked to this network. Search operations have been intensified in Assam and other States of the North-East.

3. The arrested suspects were trying to develop sleeper cells (local groups of religious fanatics who secretly support terrorists) by blending in with local Muslim communities. The role of some Bangladeshi youth is also considered suspicious.
