Gujarat government takes over the management of the ‘Seventh-day Adventist’ school

Karnavati (Gujarat) – The Gujarat government has taken complete control of the ‘Seventh-day Adventist’ school in Karnavati. In August 2025, a Hindu student named Nayan Santani, who was studying in Class 10, was stabbed to death by a Muslim student from the same school. Following this shocking incident, parents of students studying at the school were outraged. They raised serious questions about the school’s functioning and alleged that the school management was improper.
1. After the incident, the District Education Officer formed a committee to verify the functioning of the school. The committee conducted a thorough review and found that the school had violated government rules.
2. The committee also noted serious flaws in the procedures followed to obtain minority school status.
3. In its report, the investigation committee clearly stated that due to the school’s negligence and violations of rules, the government should take over the school.
4. Accepting this recommendation, the state education department issued an order on 15 December 2025, declaring that the school had been brought under government control.
5. It was stated that the entire functioning of the school would remain under government supervision to safeguard the future of more than 10,000 students studying there.
6. The District Education Officer of Karnavati city has been appointed as the administrator of the school.
