Hindus May be Allowed to Use Bhojshala Premises for ‘Pujan’

‘Vasant Panchami’ to be celebrated on Friday, 23.01.2026

Bhojshala (Madhya Pradesh) – The forthcoming ‘Vasant Panchami’ will be celebrated on Friday, 23.01.2026. In this context, Mr Kuldip Tiwari, the founder of ‘Janaudghosh Seva Sansthan’ has appealed to the Indian Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to allow Hindus to perform ‘puja’ whole day and stop entry of Muslims at Bhojshala on that day. ‘Vasant Panchami’ is a big festival of Hindus and whole day, the devotees perform ‘pujan’, ‘Havan’, and different rituals for Shri Vagdevi (Shri Saraswati Devi). Muslims lay claim on Bhojshala. Hindus are demanding that they should be allowed to worship the whole day at Bhojshala on the day of ‘Vasant Panchami’ even though it  falls on a Friday, and Muslims may be prevented from offering ‘Namaz’ at Bhojshala on that day.

1. In April 2024, in a survey report submitted by ASI, it has once again been affirmed that Bhojshala is Hindus’ place of worship.

2. Hindus are committed to protect their faith and religious places to worship their Deities. It has also been assured in the memorandum submitted by Hindus that there would be no untoward incidents or law and order problems for the Government, administration and people.

What is Bhojshala

In the eleventh century, Parmar dynasty ruled Dhar district. Raja Bhoj was the ruler of Dhar from 1000 to 1055. He was an ardent devotee of Shri Saraswati Devi. In 1034, King Bhoj established a college which later became known as Bhojshala. It was also known as the temple of Shri Vagdevi (Shri Saraswati Devi). Later, during Muslim invasions, it was converted into a mosque.
