The central government has presented these statistics in Parliament! In the last 11 years, only seven and a half thousand Bangladeshi infiltrators have come into India!

New Delhi – In a written reply given in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Union Minister of State for Home, Mr. Nityanand Rai has stated that from 2014 to 2025, that is in the last 11 years 7,528 Bangladeshi infiltrators have entered India after crossing the Bangladesh border. During the same period, 425 people entered India illegally from the Pakistan border; however, there has been no incident of infiltration across the China border so far, Mr. Rai stated.

Mr. Rai said that India has completed fencing along over 93% of the India–Pakistan international border to strengthen security and prevent infiltration. Fencing has been completed over 79 % of the India-Bangladesh border. The total length of the India–Bangladesh international border is 4,096 kilometers. Of this, fencing has been completed along 3,239 kilometers, while 855 kilometers remain unfenced. The India–Myanmar border has a total length of 1,643 kilometers; however, fencing has so far been completed along only 9 kilometers.

Indeed, the time to act has already arrived. Hence, Northeastern states must exert pressure on the Central Government.

Speaking in Guwahati (Assam), Sarma said that India is a nuclear-armed nation and the world’s fourth-largest economy, and questioned how Bangladesh could even contemplate such actions under these circumstances. He remarked that the mindset of the Bangladeshi people appears distorted, and therefore India should refrain from extending further assistance to the country.

“If Bangladesh adopts an anti-India stance, it will have to be taught a lesson,” Sarma warned.

His remarks came in response to a statement by Bangladeshi leader Hasnat Abdullah, who had claimed that Bangladesh would sever India’s seven Northeastern states and merge them with Bangladesh. Sarma’s comments were made against this backdrop.

Editorial Perspective

Given the number of Bangladeshi infiltrators in India, the question is whether the public will trust these figures!
