The Ideals Established by Lord Shri Ram Must Be Taught to Students! – Dr. Vedveer Arya, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Defence

History is the foundation of a nation. Through history, a nation can be protected and nurtured. The concept of a Sanatan Rashtra has emerged from history. History represents the very personality of a nation. Saints and sages of the Sanatan tradition have made a tremendous contribution to the creation of the world. However, this contribution of Sanatan Dharma is not being taught to today’s generation.

Writing history without chronology is incomplete. In today’s history education, the Vedas, Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Puranas should be taught to students. The life and character of Lord Shriram must be included in Indian history and the ideals established by Shriram should be taught to students. Only by establishing history based on chronology can the creation of a Sanatan Rashtra be possible.

Indian tradition encompasses the pursuit of knowledge, science, and philosophy. The events described from the Vedas to the Mahabharata are based on astronomy. We have drifted away from our scriptures and culture. The land of India itself is the original birthplace of civilization. India is the place of origin of the Indo-European civilization.

By establishing a chronological framework of history, students should be taught history, space science, mathematics, and science on that basis. An astronomy and agriculture based society was first created in India. This past glory of India must be taught to students and through this very process, the work of building a Sanatan Rashtra will take shape.
