Bangladeshi infiltrators may have obtained a large number of birth certificates in Maharashtra using fake Aadhaar cards !

Government directs to conduct a search operation and register a case directly against the fraudsters !

Mumbai, Dec  3- Bangladeshi infiltrators are suspected to have obtained a large number of birth certificates in Maharashtra using fake Aadhaar cards. The government has noticed that a large number of birth and death certificates have been taken on the basis of a large number of fake Aadhaar cards reported in Amravati, Sillod, Akola, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city, Latur, Anjangaon Surji, Achalpur, Pusad, Parbhani, Beed, Gevrai, Jalna, Ardhapur and Parali. Therefore, the government has ordered the local police stations and tehsildars in these areas, as well as across the state, to re-verify the certificates issued on the basis of Aadhaar. The government has directed to register a case directly against the fraudsters. The revenue department has issued the government’s decision in this regard on December 1.

1. The government has directed to cancel birth certificates if there is a discrepancy between the date of birth and Aadhaar card.

2. In many tehsil offices in the state, birth certificates have been issued only by considering the Aadhaar card as a valid document. No proof of school certificate or place of birth has been taken at the time of issuance of these certificates. The list of names of the persons so certified and the accompanying documents should be handed over to the police by the Tehsildar and Sub-Divisional Offices immediately.

3. The government has also directed to immediately lodge a complaint against such persons if their dates of birth are found to be different.

4. On August 11, 2023, the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 was amended. The birth and death certificates issued after this amendment will be verified by the government. Aadhaar card will no longer be considered as proof in any case.

Action should be taken immediately !

On November 11, 2025, in a meeting held by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, the responsibility of verifying the certificates issued on the basis of Aadhaar card was given to the Health Department. However, due to the delay in action by the Health Department, the work has been entrusted to the Divisional Commissioner, District Collector and Tehsildar. The government has directed to complete this work immediately.

Editorial Perspective

It is not enough to just register cases against the culprits, but for deceiving the government and society, they should be imprisoned for life !
