Bihar Government to Promote Sanatan Dharma !

State Religious Trust Council to appoint coordinators in all 38 districts

Patliputra (Bihar) – The State Religious Trust Council of the Bihar Government will appoint coordinators in all 38 districts to promote Sanatan Dharma across the state. The council currently has 2,499 registered temples and monasteries under its records. In addition to maintaining records of the properties of registered temples, monasteries, and trusts, the council also oversees their functioning. The coordinators will be appointed in coordination with the chief priests of these temples. This council operates under the Law Department of the Bihar Government.

Council Chairman Ranbir Nandan said that the process of selecting one coordinator per district will begin within the next two days. Only Mahants (chief priests) will be selected for these positions. “Our festivals keep the culture of our country alive. They are a living representation of environmental harmony, devotion, and community participation. There is a need to spread awareness about the significance of festivals, rituals, values, and Sanatan Dharma,” Nandan emphasised.

An International Conference to Be Organized!

Ranbir Nandan further stated that preparations are underway to organise an international conference in the ancient city of Rajgir (Nalanda district) in the coming months to promote Sanatan Dharma. The council has also decided to publish a religious calendar highlighting all festivals, rituals, and other religious activities within Sanatan Dharma.

What Will the Coordinators Do?

Ensure that all registered temples and monasteries in the district perform the monthly Satyanarayan Katha on the full moon day and Bhagwati Puja on the new moon day.
Ensure that the significance of these two rituals is being communicated to the public and encourage people to conduct these rituals in their homes every month.
Work towards ensuring that temples and monasteries undertake social reform activities.

Editorial Perspective

This is a commendable decision by the BJP–Janata Dal (United) government. Hindus believe that every state in the country should follow this example !
