Bhagat Singh and Hamas are the same : Falsity of Congress MP Masood

Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh) – During a podcast with journalist Mr Sushant Sinha, Congress MP Imran Masood compared and equated martyr revolutionary Bhagat Singh and Palestinian terrorist organisation Hamas and stated that both fought for their motherland. He even justified his statement. BJP has criticised Masood and Congress Party.

Masood’s replies during the podcast

1. India lacks a foreign policy. Israel attacked Palestine but we never condemned it. (Why doesn’t Masood speak about the reasons for Israel attacking Palestine ? On 7.10.2023, Hamas terrorists targeted Israeli citizens and killed them; besides kidnapping over 200 people. Masood doesn’t say a word about it. – Editor)

2. When Mr Sinha said that Hamas is a terrorist organisation, Imran Masood counter questioned Mr Sinha – “Was Bhagat Singh a terrorist ?” When Masood was asked if he was comparing Hamas with Bhagat Singh, Masood agreed.

3. Masood further stated that Bhagat Singh fought for his motherland; similarly, Hamas is also fighting for its motherland. For Hamas, it is a freedom movement; but, he felt sorry for the path opted by Hamas. (Israel and not Hamas has been fighting for its own motherland for the past 80 years. It is a history of the past 2000 years which Masood doesn’t want to talk about. – Editor)

4. Masood was also asked – ‘Hamas attacked Israel, killed many people and held hundreds as hostages. Hamas is using Palestinians as shields, while fighting Israel. Are they not terrorists ?’ Imran Masood replied that ‘Hamas killed only hundreds but in retaliation Israel killed nearly a lakh Palestinians. Why is this aspect not taken into account ?’ (It was Hamas which attacked Israel first, and hence, Israel retaliated. Even then, Hamas did not release Israeli citizens held as hostages; therefore, Israel had to continue the war. Despite thousands of people getting killed in this war, why did Hamas not release the hostages ? Will Masood be able to answer this ? Hamas, and not Israel, is responsible for the death of all these people. – Editor)

5. When Mr Sinha asked Masood about Mohandas Gandhi, Masood went on the defensive and claimed that Muslims are non-violent people. (It is an irony that supporters of Hamas claim to be non-violent ! – Editor)

Communists and Congress leaders support terrorists : BJP

BJP Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla released a video on ‘X’ which is a clip of Masood’s interview. While criticising the Congress, he said that communists and Congress leaders support terrorists. Earlier, Kanhaiya Kumar had compared Bhagat Singh with Lalu Yadav. The Congress has insulted other national heroes on many occasions.

Editorial perspectives

A FIR should be lodged against Imran Masood for this obnoxious comparison and he should be put behind bars.
History is witness to the fact that during India’s freedom struggle hardly any Muslims participated. Masood using Bhagat Singh’s name in the same breath as Hamas, is therefore, a traitorous act.
A leader like Masood getting elected as Member of Parliament is shameful for Indians.
Congress needs to clarify if it agrees with Imran Masood’s statement.
