Mumbai (Maharashtra) – In the 9th November edition of the ‘Maharashtra Times’, a column titled ‘Deed Damdi’ carried a satirical piece named ‘Makeshift Gita’. The satire targeted the land-grabbing scam involving Parth Pawar. Drawing from the scene in the Mahabharat where Shrikrushna imparted the Bhagwadgeeta to Arjun, the newspaper published a caricature showing Ajit Pawar counselling Parth Pawar.
In this lampoon, Parth is depicted as Arjun and Ajit Pawar as Shrikrushna. The article mockingly asks whether Ajit Pawar will, like Shrikrishna, prepare the confused Parth to “fight” — that is, to find a way out of the corruption case.
This grossly disrespectful comparison and mockery of the sacred Bhagwadgeeta has angered and hurt the sentiments of countless Hindus.
Editorial Perspective‘Maharashtra Times’ would never dare to lampoon the revered figures or sacred texts of any non-Hindu faith. Its mockery of the Bhagwadgeeta and Shrikrushna reflects deep-rooted Hinduphobia. Devout Hindus should give this anti-Hindu publication the boycott it deserves. |
