India and the United States sign a 10-year defence agreement !

U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh

New Delhi – India and the United States signed a 10-year defence pact on October 31. The agreement was signed by India’s Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh and the US Secretary of Defence. The agreement is expected to enhance military cooperation, technical exchanges and investment in the defence sector between the two countries.

India-US trade relations have been strained for the past few months. US President Donald Trump has imposed a 50 per cent import duty on India. Apart from this, Trump has been repeatedly pressuring India not to import oil from Russia. Against this backdrop, the signing of this defence agreement assumes special significance. According to the agreement,  the two countries will increase mutual cooperation in important areas such as  defense research, production, technology development and cyber security. It is also believed that this agreement will enhance India’s defence capability and further strengthens the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Editorial Perspective

It  can be concluded from this agreement that because India has not bowed down to the bullying tactics of the United States of America of imposing unreasonable trade tariffs on India; America only has to take a step back against India. This  also proves that ‘America has to be told in the language it understands’.
