“Prime Minister Modi’s Government commits violence against minorities” : New York mayor Zohran Mamdani

Muslim candidate for New York mayor Zohran Mamdani accuses Modi Government of violence against minorities in gurdwara speech

New York (USA) – Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic candidate for Mayor of New York City, accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian Government of pursuing policies that promote violence against minority communities. Speaking at a gurdwara, Mamdani also criticised current New York Mayor Eric Adams, saying that Adams had “made the city unaffordable” while aligning himself closely with Modi and his administration.

Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi strongly objected to Mamdani’s remarks, stating, “What Zohran said in a gurdwara is deeply concerning. Who is behind him, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun ?”

Zohran Mamdani is the son of Indian-origin filmmaker Mira Nair and a Ugandan academic. Recently, former US President Donald Trump accused Mamdani of maintaining close ties with Islamic extremist groups.

Editorial Perspective

Zohran Mamdani has never spoken against global jihadist terrorism or Pakistan’s actions, reflecting a clear ideological bias.
