Bangladesh Minority Watch expresses dissatisfaction over police failing to apply appropriate legal charges in the case

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – The Bangladesh Minority Watch organization has criticized the police for registering a case in the abduction of a Hindu girl under incorrect legal sections, which they claim violates the principles of law and justice. According to the organization, the case should have been registered under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, 2001, but the police filed it under inappropriate charges.

1. The organization stated that the case clearly involves elements of violence and exploitation against women and children, yet the police failed to include the relevant sections of the law. As a result, the accused easily secured bail, which the organization called unjust and unacceptable.
2. The organization expressed serious concern over the incident and demanded that the appropriate legal provisions be applied immediately to ensure justice for the victim.
3. It further advised the government and police to provide adequate training on legal procedures and due process to law enforcement officers. The statement also emphasized that discrimination based on religion or caste violates human rights principles.
Bangladesh Minority Watch concluded by stating that protecting minorities and maintaining tolerance are essential for peace and stability in the country.
