Dhaka (Bangladesh) – Bangladesh’s interim government head, Mahammad Yunus, presented a map to Pakistani General Sahir Shamshad Mirza that depicted India’s northeastern states as part of Bangladesh. Yunus also gifted him a book titled ‘The Art of Triumph’, whose cover featured this controversial map showing all seven northeastern states of India as Bangladeshi territory. This map is known to be used by the radical Islamist group that promotes the concept of ‘Greater Bangladesh’. So far, India’s Ministry of External Affairs has not issued any official statement on the matter.

In December last year, Yunus’s advisor Mahfuz Alam had posted a similar distorted map of Bangladesh, depicting parts of India’s Bengal, Tripura, and Assam as Bangladeshi territory. Following widespread opposition, the post was later deleted.
