Bhagat Singh and Hamas are the Same : Congress MP Imran Masood

Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh) – Congress MP Imran Masood compared martyr revolutionary Bhagat Singh and Palestinian terrorist organisation Hamas and stated that both fought for their motherland. BJP has criticised Masood and Congress party.

In an interview with journalist Sushant Sinha, Imran Masood made the statement when he spoke on India’s foreign policy.

Replies of Masood in the interview

1. India has no foreign policy. Israel attacked Palestine but we never condemned it. (Editorial Perspective : Why doesn’t Masood talk about the reasons behind Israel attacking Palestine ? On 07.10.2023, Hamas terrorists targeted Israeli citizens and killed them; besides kidnapping more than 200 people but please note that Masood doesn’t say a word about it.)

2. Imran Masood asked Mr Sinha if Bhagat Singh was a terrorist when Mr Sinha said that Hamas is a terrorist organisation. When Masood was asked if he was comparing Hamas and Bhagat Singh, Masood said, yes.

3. Imran Masood further stated that Bhagat Singh fought for his motherland; similarly, Hamas is also fighting for the motherland. For Hamas, it is a freedom movement but he felt sorry for the path opted by Hamas. (Editorial Perspective : Israel and not Hamas has been fighting for its own motherland for the past 80 years. It is a history of the past 2000 years which Masood doesn’t want to talk about.)

4. Masood was also asked, “Hamas attacked Israel, killed several people and held many as hostages. Hamas is using Palestinians as shields, holding them in front and fighting Israel. Are they not terrorists ?” Imran Masood replied that Hamas killed hundreds of people but before that Israel killed nearly lakh of people in retaliation. Why is it not taken into account ? (Editorial Perspective : First, Hamas attacked Israel and Israel retaliated. Even then, Hamas didn’t release Israeli citizens held as hostages; therefore, Israel had to continue the war. Despite thousands of people getting killed in the war, Hamas has not released the hostages. Will Masood answer this query ? Hamas, and not Israel, is responsible for the death of all these people.)

5. Mr Sinha asked Masood about Mohandas Gandhi when Masood was on the defensive and claimed that Muslims are non-violent people. (Editorial Perspective : And supporting Hamas is non-violence !)  

Communists and Congress leaders support terrorists – BJP

BJP’s spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla has released a video on ‘X’ with a part of Imran Masood’s statement. He has stated while criticising Congress that communists and Congress leaders support terrorists. Earlier, Kanhaiya Kumar had compared Bhagat Singh with Lalu Prasad Yadav. The Congress has insulted even other great leaders on many occasions.

Editorial Perspectives

  • A case should be filed against Masood for such a statement and he should be put behind bars.
  • Our history shows that there are very few Muslim revolutionaries who fought for India’s freedom. Masood, using Bhagat Singh’s name in connection with Hamas, is, therefore, an anti-national.
  • A leader like Masood is elected as MP and sits in Parliament is shameful for Indians.
  • Congress needs to clarify whether it agrees with Imran Masood’s statement.
