Greets Prime Minister Modi over a phone call

Donald Trump celebrates Diwali at the White House

Washington DC (USA) – ‘In a short while, we will light a lamp symbolising the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil. This reminds us always to walk the path of wisdom and work diligently’, US President Donald Trump said while celebrating Diwali at the White House. He also called Prime Minister Narendra Modi to extend Diwali greetings. The event was attended by several senior American administration officials, including FBI Director Kash Patel, Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard, White House Deputy Press Secretary Kush Desai, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, and Indian Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra.

Trump said, ‘I had a phone conversation with Prime Minister Modi. We discussed trade and regional peace. It is wonderful that there is no war between India and Pakistan. Modi is a great person, and over the past few years, he has become a good friend of mine’.

Prime Minister Modi thanked Trump for his Diwali greetings, posting on X (formerly Twitter) : ‘Thank you, President Trump, for your phone call and warm Diwali greetings. On this festival of lights, may our two great democracies continue to illuminate the world with hope and stand united against terrorism in all its forms’.

Criticism over Kash Patel’s Diwali greetings

‘All Hindus should be expelled from America’

FBI Director Kash Patel posted Diwali greetings on X. His post drew criticism from several users, with some writing : ‘Sir, please don’t promote foreign festivals in America. This is not our festival—please stop bringing it here. America is a Christian country. Don’t you know that ? All Hindus should be expelled from here’. (Who could be making such demands needs no explanation. Remember, no one ever demands that religious fanatics, jihadis, or Khalistanis be expelled from America ! – Editor)
