If caste assertion continues, people who call themselves Hindus will cease to exist in the next 100 to 150 years !

Observation of the Madhya Pradesh High Court

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) – People identify themselves as Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya, or Shudra, asserting their separate identities. The Madhya Pradesh High Court, while taking suo motu cognisance of a caste humiliation incident in Damoh District on 14 October 2025, observed that if such caste assertions continue, people who call themselves Hindus could cease to exist in 100 to 150 years.

Order to invoke the National Security Act on those insulting others based on caste

The incident involved an OBC community member being allegedly humiliated by upper-caste villagers. The accused reportedly forced the victim’s feet to be washed after sending him a defamatory AI-generated video. The High Court directed the police and district administration to apply the National Security Act to all persons appearing in the video.

Aggressive display of caste identity increasing

The Court noted that the state had earlier witnessed another severe caste-based humiliation, where an upper-caste person had urinated on the head of a tribal man, leading the Chief Minister to wash the victim’s feet to calm public outrage. The Court expressed concern that people are increasingly aggressive in asserting their caste identity, leaving no opportunity to flaunt caste pride. Such behaviour is causing a rise in caste-based violence, with most victims being the least educated and poorest sections of society. Incidents such as shoes being hurled at the Chief Justice of India and the suicide of a senior Additional Director General of Police in Haryana were cited as examples showing how caste-related issues are gaining prominence in the country.

Editorial Perspective

Fundamentally, there are no castes in Hindu Dharma — there exists the Varna system, which is divinely ordained. Therefore, eradicating caste-based discrimination is imperative, and Shankaracharyas, Dharma Gurus, and Saints must take the lead !
