Pak requests Afghanistan for a ceasefire : 48-hour ceasefire declared

Kabul/Islamabad – Pakistan carried out airstrikes in Kabul and Spin Boldak, Afghanistan, on October 15th. Dozens of people were killed in these attacks. In retaliation, Afghanistan also carried out a drone attack targeting a room used for secret operations in Peshawar, Pakistan. After this attack, a 48-hour ceasefire was declared between the two countries at the request of Pakistan.

1. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that the ceasefire between the two countries is being implemented at the request of Pakistan. All Afghan forces should strictly adhere to the ceasefire until there is a violation by the other side.

2. Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has issued a statement saying that both countries will try to resolve the issue through dialogue.

3. According to a report by Afghanistan’s ‘TOLO News’, Pakistan had initially agreed to a complete ceasefire; but later withdrew and said that the ceasefire would be for only 48 hours. According to Pakistani media, the Pakistani army invaded the Kandahar area of ​​Afghanistan. In this, the 4th battalion and 6th ‘Border Brigade’ of the Taliban in Kandahar province were completely destroyed. The Afghan Government has rejected these claims.

4. The Afghan people stand firmly behind their soldiers. A citizen of Kandahar told a news channel that, if necessary, we will go to the field with the army. We are all standing with the army against Pakistan.

5. The conflict between the two countries began on October 8th after Pakistan attacked the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) bases in Kabul, Afghanistan. Afghanistan has blamed Pakistan for the border dispute and airspace violations. The root of the dispute between the two countries is the ‘Durand Line’, which was drawn between British India and Afghanistan. It divides the traditional lands of the two countries; however, it is not accepted by Pakistan and Afghanistan.
