Sarfaraz and Sanobar Khwaja arrested for possessing 80 kg beef

Sawantwadi (Dist. Sindhudurg) – The Police have seized 80 kg beef and arrested Sarfaraz Bhauddin Khwaja (age 45) and Sanobar Bhauddin Khwaja (age 40) after raiding a house in the town’s Baherchawada area. The operation was carried out on October 14th. The Police are conducting further investigations into the case.

The sequence of events :

1. After receiving information about the beef, a team of 15 Police personnel led by Police Inspector Amol Chavan of Sawantwadi Police Station kept a watch on the suspects’ houses and premises.

2. When the Police arrived to search the house, the family initially refused to open the doors. The Police announced over the loudspeaker on their vehicle that “The Police are acting in accordance with legal procedures. Therefore, if the doors are not opened, we will have to break the doors and windows to enter the house.” The suspects then opened the doors of the house.

3. After opening the doors, the Police searched the house and found 80 kg beef. They immediately conducted a panchnama in the presence of a veterinary officer.

4. The Police seized 80 kg beef, a large freezer, a weighing scale, a meat cutting knife, and plastic bags from the house of Sarfaraz Bhauddin Khwaja.

Since there is no fear of the anti-cow slaughter law, such acts are committed by religious fanatics. Strict legal action is needed to stop this.
