Muslims attack Shri Durgadevi immersion procession near mosque in Nepal

Kathmandu (Nepal) – A procession of the idol immersion of Shri Durgadevi at Janakpurdham in Dhanusha district was attacked by fanatic Muslims while it was passing near the Rizvi Jama Masjid. This incident took place on 2nd October.

1. A Muslim mob gathered near the mosque pelted stones and glass bottles at the procession.

2. As the situation deteriorated, the police had to intervene. The Police used tear gas to bring the situation under control and disperse the crowd.

3. The Police had imposed a curfew to bring the situation under control. A large number of Police were deployed in the area.

Since Nepal became a secular country, it has become difficult for Hindus to celebrate festivals

The local Hindu community has expressed concern over the incident. They say that it has become difficult for Hindus to celebrate festivals peacefully since Nepal was declared a secular country.
