Imam Rais Ahmad has been arrested.

Rampur (Uttar Pradesh) – Following revelations of sexual abuse of women inside a local mosque, the Police have arrested Imam Rahis Ahmad. According to Police, he is also accused of attempting religious conversion and distributing obscene videos.

1. On 20.8.2025, a video related to the Nadrabag Mosque on JK Pacel Road was circulated on social media. In it, a young woman made serious allegations that women were being sexually abused inside the mosque by the imam.

2. The Police team conducted an investigation inside the mosque and arrested Imam Rahis Ahmad on 21.8.2025. Live cartridges and a mobile phone were seized from him at the time.

3. Rampur Police have stated that the investigation is ongoing and other accused will be arrested soon.

4. Locals have expressed strong outrage over the incident and are demanding strict action against the accused.

Editorial Perspectives

• Several recent incidents have revealed that mosques are turning into hubs of anti-national activities and immorality. In such a scenario, why is the Government not sealing these mosques?

• When an imam is arrested for sexual abuse, the media largely avoids giving such incidents coverage; however, these very media outlets vilify the image of Hindu saints even when accusations are merely alleged. Please note this double standard !
