Poor response to ‘Surrender Scheme’

Only 7 Naxals surrendered under the State’s rehabilitation scheme in 10 years. The Government offered them employment support, children’s education, and other assistance.

Four Maharashtra districts freed from Naxalism, two still affected

In June 2025, the Government declared Chandrapur, Bhandara, Nanded, and Yavatmal districts free of Naxalism. However, Gondia and Gadchiroli remain affected. In Gondia, talukas such as Tirora, Goregaon, Sadak Arjuni, Salekasa, Deori, and Arjuni-Mor have Naxal presence, while Gadchiroli district is entirely affected. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has set a target of making India Naxal-free by March 2026, requiring decisive action in Gondia and Gadchiroli.
