Famous actor R Madhavan raises question on History syllabus

Mumbai – “When I was in school, the history book had 8 chapters on Mughals and 2 chapters on the Harappan and Mohan-Jo-Daro culture, 4 chapters on the British empire and freedom struggle and only 1 chapter from the South Chol, Pandya, Pallav and Chera kingdoms. I am aware of future criticism when I am speaking like this today, however, I will mention it.” Actor R. Madhavan was speaking to a news channel.
Chol Dynasty is 2,400-year-old
R. Madhavan added, the British and the Mughals ruled us for nearly 800 years, however the Chol Dynasty is 2,400 years old. They were very much advanced in the maritime fleet and the Navy; their trade was extended up to Rome and their sea voyages resulted into constructing temples up to Angkor Vat (Cambodia). Jain, Buddhist and Hindu religions reached China. As a proof, in Korea there are many words from Tamil language even today. Tamil culture had covered such a vast part of the world and yet their great and prosperous achievements were limited to only one chapter in the history book.
All the scientific knowledge from our ethnographic books is mocked
Finally, he said, “Who has decided this syllabus ? Tamil is the oldest language in the world, yet no one knows about this fact. The science we inherit in the books of our culture, is mocked at even today.
Editorial PerspectiveThe rich history of Hindu empires has been neglected only to appease the Muslims. It is changing now. We expect not only change, but those responsible for the distortion of history and have hidden the truth, must be punished. |
