31 Naxals killed, 2 soldiers lose life in Bijapur (Chhattisgarh)

Bijapur (Chhattisgarh) – Security Forces killed 31 Naxals in an encounter in Indravati National Park here. At the same time, 2 soldiers were killed and 2 others got injured. The injured soldiers have been admitted to a hospital for treatment. This is the second such encounter in Indravati Park this year. Before this in an encounter on 12th January, 3 Naxals were killed.

In the current year, so far, 62 Naxals have been killed in encounters. During Chhattisgarh encounter 11 soldiers lost their lives while fighting with the Naxals. This year in Bijapur along with 5, at least 9 soldiers have been killed by the Naxals. Abuzmad, Chhattisgarh is a hilly area surrounded by wilderness, and Indravati National Park is next to it. Therefore, this becomes a haven for the Naxals. The area of this park is 2,799 sq. km. This park is at the border of Maharashtra. This park was declared as Project Tiger in 1983.
