Hindu female student commits suicide in Bangladesh after being molested by a Muslim youth in public

Incident occurred after Shri Saraswati Devi’s puja at an eatery

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – A 19-year-old Hindu student in Bangladesh committed suicide after being molested in public by Rehan Bafal, a 30-year-old Muslim youth, at an eatery. The accused, Rehan Bafal, is the son of Mohsin Hawaldar, a sub-district president of an ethnic political party. The victim had attended the puja of Shri Saraswati Devi and later visited an eatery with her friends, where the incident took place.

According to the victim’s father:

“My daughter returned home in the afternoon and told me that Rehan had molested and assaulted her in public. After that, she went to her room. When family members went to call her for dinner, she did not respond. Upon breaking the door open, we found her hanging from the ceiling fan.”

Following the father’s complaint, the Police have registered a case against Reha.
