Unhygienic food openly sold at eateries in Maha Kumbha Kshetra

Devotees’ health at risk as administration turns a blind eye

Food being openly sold at shops and eateries across Maha Kumbha Kshetra

Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) – Numerous eateries and food stalls have been set up across the Maha Kumbha Kshetra. However, food items are being openly sold without proper hygiene measures. Tea, pav-vada, bhaji, puri-bhaji, and samosas are among the most commonly sold items. Many eateries are reusing blackened oil multiple times for frying, raising serious health concerns for devotees. The administration’s complete negligence in addressing this issue is evident.

Both licensed and unlicensed food stalls have been established in Maha Kumbha Kshetra. The Food and Drug Administration has failed to conduct necessary inspections of the food sold at these stalls. As a result, oily, raw, and half-cooked food items are being sold at several locations. According to food safety regulations, prepared food should be covered with thin mesh to prevent contamination from flies. However, vendors are blatantly violating these rules. Devotees are now demanding that the administration take strict action against those selling unhygienic food in the open.
