On 24 th January, during the Court hearing of the petition claiming the presence of a Shiva Temple within the Ajmer Dargah, Vishnu Gupta’s lawyer was threatened outside the Court. Time granted to Dargah Committee to present its argument
The Dargah Committee has filed a petition in Court challenging Vishnu Gupta’s claims and seeking the dismissal of the petition claiming the presence of a Shiva Temple. The committee contends that the petition is not legally valid for a hearing. The Court has sought a response from Vishnu Gupta, which he has already submitted. Subsequently, the Dargah Committee has requested additional time to present its counterarguments. Furthermore, six new individuals have applied to join the case as parties, bringing the total number of petitioners to eleven.
Vishnu Gupta asserted that substantial evidence has been submitted before the Court supporting the existence of a temple at the Ajmer Dargah site. He argued that the Places of Worship Act does not apply in this instance, as the site is not classified as a place of worship. According to him, the Act pertains only to temples, mosques, churches, and gurdwaras, and does not include dargahs or graveyards.
