Bangladesh cricketer Litton Das dropped from Bangladesh cricket team for being a Hindu

Pakistan’s former Muslim cricketer criticises

Litton Das

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – Bangladesh cricket board has declared its 15-player team for the ‘Champion Trophy 2025’. Experienced wicketkeeper Litton Das has not been included in this team, leading to a controversy. Pakistan’s former cricketer Basit Ali has said that it was religious discrimination against Litton. Basit asked, “On what basis has Litton has been excluded ? He recently scored a century; but he was dropped just because he is a non-Muslim. This is a great injustice to Litton. The Bangladesh team is incomplete without Litton Das.”

Basit’s allegations have once again brought to the fore the issue of religious discrimination in Bangladesh cricket. Litton Das expressed disappointment over the incident and said he respects the selectors’ decision and will “do better in future”.
