US universities appeal
Washington – Various universities have appealed to students, including Indians, to return to the US after completing their winter break before Donald Trump becomes president on January 20. The notice issued to students said that the appeal was made to avoid possible travel restrictions and strict checks at the entry points. There is a belief that it will be difficult for people to travel to the US once Donald Trump returns to power.
1. Trump has warned of the largest mass deportation of illegal immigrants in US history.
2. Although it is unlikely that Indian students carrying valid visas will have any effect, yet they should not take risks opined university administrators.
3. Some educational institutions changed their academic calendars before Trump’s return. A data science graduate student at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, said his classes usually start after the first week of the year. Now the academic session will commence on January 2.
