Bhiwandi (Dist. Thane) – At 12:30 a.m., when a Ganesh immersion procession reached the Vanjarpatti Naka area, fanatics pelted stones at it. When the stone pelting started, the Hindus started raising slogans. Vehicles were also vandalised this time. The Police were injured at this time and subsequently resorted to lathicharge to control the crowd. The Police have taken some people into custody and registered cases against them. On September 18, there was a heavy Police deployment in the city.
