52.46% of the total foreign investment in the country is in Maharashtra alone

Mumbai – In the first quarter of the fiscal year 2024-2025, Maharashtra again received the highest investment. For the past two years, Maharashtra has consistently been ranked first in attracting foreign investment in the country. Between April and June, the state received a total investment of ₹70,795 crore, informed Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis through a post on the social media platform X. He further stated that 52.46% of the total foreign investment in the country is in Maharashtra alone.
5 years’ worth of work in 2.5 years
While in power from 2014 to 2019, Maharashtra received a total foreign investment of ₹3,62,161 crore. “On the very first day, we had firmly stated that we will accomplish 5 years’ worth of work in 2.5 years,” Fadnavis said. He further added that within just over two years, they managed to bring in an investment of ₹3,14,318 crore.
Congress’ criticism
Commenting on this, Congress state president Vijay Wadettiwar said that according to the central government’s economic report, Maharashtra is behind Gujarat. Hence, Fadnavis’ claim is bogus.
Responding to this criticism, BJP’s Chandrashekhar Bawankule said, “Wadettiwar has never worked as a finance minister, so he won’t understand this matter.”
