Attack on a Hindus’ procession near a mosque in Sardarshahr, Rajasthan

Churu (Rajasthan) – On the evening of 30th August in Sardarshahr, when the religious procession of Hindus reached the mosque, D.J. The procession was attacked by Muslims due to a dispute over the playing of (musical instruments).

The procession was taken out by the Ramdevra organisation. As soon as the procession reached Telio Masjid here, Muslims surrounded the procession and DJ in front of the mosque and asked to stop. At this time, when the officials of the organisation tried to explain the Muslims, the Muslims started vandalising and beating them.

A large crowd gathered in front of the Sardarshahar Police Station till late night and protested the incident by burning tyres. After this Collector Meenu Verma, Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar Maheshwari and Police Officer Arvind Kumar Bhardwaj held a meeting with Hindu organisations and senior citizens of the city. It was informed that 3 people have been arrested in connection with this attack and they are also looking for other accused. After this the movement was withdrawn. Hindus called for a district curfew on 31st August. This received a spontaneous response from the people. The sanitation staff of the municipal council decided not to carry out the cleaning work. They protested in front of the municipal council.
