DM orders removal of Hindu religious symbols from Electricity poles

Gangavathi (Karnataka) – District authorities have ordered the removal of religious symbols from the electric poles along the roads here. They also ordered to register a case against the Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL).

Gangavathi Taluka is considered to be the birthplace of Deity Hanuman. Hence, electric poles were decorated with maces (Gada) and bows symbolising the weapons of Deity Shriram and Hanuman. ‘Social Democratic Party of India’, the political party linked to the banned Jihadi organisation ‘Popular Front of India’, objected to this and demanded removal of the symbols. It also demanded registering a crime in the matter. After this, the District Magistrate ordered the removal of symbols from poles to prevent disturbing religious harmony in the city. (If religious harmony is disturbed by installing such symbols, then who will be responsible if religious harmony is disturbed due to their removal ? Will the District Magistrate reply to this ? – Editor).

These symbols were installed for beautification at Rana Circle and Julianagar in Gangavathi. The Hindu organisations have asked the District authorities – ‘This route is 12 km long and these symbols are meant to inspire devotees. What religious conflict can take place due to these ?’

Editorial Perspectives

  • Since there is a Congress Government in Karnataka, no matter what Muslims demand, the State administration will immediately oblige.
  • It is shameful for Hindus that their religious symbols are banned in their own country due to objection from Muslims. Will the Hindus who elected this anti-Hindu Congress Government wake up now ?
