January 2024 – Ex-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wins a fourth straight term in elections boycotted by the opposition. She takes power, ignoring the public mandate, claimed by the public that she had the backing of Indian politics. After assuming power, numerous media outlets and newspapers published reports on the ruling Awami League (AL)’s corruption. AL’s influence and corruption spread everywhere and the prices of daily products skyrocketed. Students launched protests against government job quotas.
July 2024 – A few students from public and private universities began protesting job quotas, which reserve one-third of civil service posts for descendants of people who fought in the 1971 war for independence. From the very beginning, Hasina ignored these protests and used deceptive words that only fueled public discontent, leading more people to join the protests. The AL general secretary launched an attack on the students, causing the situation to escalate. Jamaat and BNP took this golden opportunity to attempt to overthrow the government, with many people claiming external forces were involved.
29th July 2024 – Students, the general public, BNP, and Jamaat joined forces, calling for Hasina’s resignation.
4th August 2024 – Nearly 103 people were killed during the protests, bringing the total number of dead to almost 300.
5th August 2024 – At around 1:45 PM, the army chief Waker Uz Zsman gave Hasina only 45 minutes to resign and leave the country. By 2:30 PM, Hasina fled to Agartola and then to Delhi, India, to save her and her sister Sheikh Rehena’s lives. Protesters stormed not only the prime minister’s residence but also Parliament and MPs’ properties, looting and setting fire to their houses. The main targets were innocent Hindus, with attacks on Hindu establishments and lives carried out under the guise of student protests. Most police stations in the country, around 400, were attacked, including those in the capital, Dhaka, which currently have no police personnel present.
Unprecedented Daunting Situation for Hindus in Bangladesh
In this situation, no one feels safe. Not only the people but also the police are not able staying in their respective stations or offices, leading everyone to seek safe shelters. On the night of August 5, 2024, groups attacked and killed police officers in 27 districts. In total 460 where 200+ are students people had been killed officially A responsible police officer reported that at least fifty police personnel have lost their lives due to public outrage since Monday afternoon. Due to the adverse conditions, the exact number of casualties is unknown.
Dear Indian Hindus,
Remember these words.
“If you don’t unite today, this is your tomorrow! UNITE, ACT OR DIE.”
Hell nobody is rescuing our Bangladeshi brothers and sisters, how can you expect if somebody would ensure your safety?
