IS terrorists caught in Ahmedabad had plans to attack India

Arrested terrorists Sri Lankan citizens

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) – The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Monday said it arrested four terrorists of the Islamic State from the Sardar Vallabhai Patel airport. The ATS, in a brief note, said the four accused, who were arrested from the airport, are Sri Lankan citizens and terrorists of the Islamic State. These four have admitted to plotting an attack on Indian soil. Interrogations revealed that Abu had informed the accused about the weapons hidden at the given location in Ahmedabad for their use. After taking it, they were to be told where and when to launch the attack. Three pistols carried star marks and cartridges were consficated.

The accused, Mohammad Nusrat (35), Mohammad Faarukh (35), Mohammad Nafran (27) and Mohammad Rasdeen (43), informed investigators that they were earlier associated with the banned Sri Lankan radical militant outfit, National Thowheeth Jamath (NJT) and joined IS after getting in touch with Pakistani handler Abu Bakr Al Bagdadi, said Gujarat Director General of Police Vikas Sahay. These four had come from Chennai to Ahmedabad by plane. The day after the arrest of these four, i.e. 21st May, a cricket match was held at the ‘Narendra Modi Stadium’ in Ahmedabad for the ‘IPL’ tournament and also on 22nd May. From that perspective, this action is considered important.
