Washington (USA) – In the last 6 months, there have been many attacks on Indian students who have migrated there for education or who are of Indian origin and living there. At least 11 Indian students have died in suspicious circumstances in the US during this period. A similar incident has now happened in Chicago where Rupesh Chandra, an Indian student from the 4300 block of N Sheridan Road, has been missing since 2ndMay.

The Consulate General of India in Chicago has said that the Consulate General is deeply concerned to hear about the disappearance of Indian student Rupesh Chandra. The embassy is in constant contact with the Indian community and the Police and hopes to find Rupesh soon. Chicago Police have appealed to the public that if they have any information about Rupesh, they should report it to the Police.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Many incidents of murders of Indian students have come to light in the last 6 months. This is an international conspiracy against India. India should demand an answer from the US over this.
  • Khalistani conspiracy could be behind such acts against Indian students. The Ministry of External Affairs should pressurise the US by officially making a statement from the international platform that ‘the US is becoming a dangerous place for Indian students due to such incidents.’
